Powers & Jurisdiction

Subject to the provisions of the Constitution, the High Court of Provinces (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act No. 54 of 2006 and of any law, the Civil Appellate High Court is vested with appellate and revisionary jurisdiction in respect of judgments, decrees and orders delivered and made by any District Court within the Gampaha Judicial Zone.

Civil Appellate Jurisdiction

Appeals from the District Courts in the exercise of its original jurisdiction, applications for leave to appeal from the District Courts, appeals notwithstanding Lapse of Time from the District Courts, and applications for Acceleration.

Revisionary Jurisdiction

Applications in Revision from the District Courts for the correction of all errors in fact or in law committed by regional District Courts.
