Western Province Civil Appellate High Court, Gampaha was declared open on 08 June 2007. Under the reforms mandated by High Court of the Provinces (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act No. 54 of 2006, the Civil Appellate High Court was set up to serve the Western Province’s heavy caseload, providing immense relief to the local public and legal professionals by eliminating the need to travel to Colombo. It has appellate and revisionary jurisdiction in respect of judgments, decrees and orders delivered and made by any District Court within such Gampaha Judicial Zone and the appellate jurisdiction for the correction of all errors in fact or in law.
